THOMAS THE APOSTLE CHURCH 5635 BERKSHIRE VALLEY ROAD OAK RIDGE, NJ 07438 INTERMENT: FRIDAY: JULY 5, 2024 FOLLOWING FUNERAL MASS FLANDERS-HILLSIDE CEMETERY SUCCASUNNA, NJ 07876 Alexis Ceacatura passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024 surrounded by his beloved brother Andrew, his godparents Michael and Nancy Grant, and friends from the Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD), part of Catholic Charities – Diocese of Paterson. Alexis was born in Romania and raised by his loving parents in Northern New Jersey. In 2007, Alexis moved into Fitzpatrick House, a home for differently-abled individuals in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey managed by the DPD. His 17 years at Fitzpatrick House were filled with joy, laughter, and love. Alexis loved to read and test his trivia knowledge (including on Jeopardy!). He loved Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Marvel. His room was a showcase of stars and nebulas that danced across his ceiling, adorned by a wall of comics, and a corner with life size cutouts of the Harry Potter cast. His ever-burgeoning love for books was reflected by a collection that would impress any avid reader. Alexis loved space, ghost stories, and the supernatural; his love for the show Ancient Aliens was insurmountable. He loved to play Dungeon & Dragons and could give you a run for your money when he played Scrabble. Alexis was smart and charismatic, and he earned his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from the Country College of Morris. He was involved in Special Olympics track and field and bowling. He won a total of 102 medals that he displayed proudly on his Star Wars medal hanger. Alexis had a deep love for his family. He looked forward to his weekly phone calls with his little brother and would answer the phone with "Hey bro" and smile ear to ear. Alexis was gentle, kind, and loving. He handled everyone and their feelings with care. He was a joy to be around with his infectious laugh and his serious Scrabble face. He enjoyed spending his time at the movies and watching The Game Show Network. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Everyone at DPD knew and cherished Alexis. He will be especially missed by his Fitzpatrick Family: Martina (Tina), William (Bill), Pamela, Sergio, Qaliah, Paul, Suzon, Juliet, Iniah, Daniel, and Chenille. He will always be lovingly remembered by his second family, the Grants: Nancy, Michael (Mike), Barbara Joan (BJ), Lauren, Katherine (Katy), and their families. Alexis is survived by his brother Andrew, and he joins his loving parents, Maria and Hristu, in the Kingdom of Heaven. A celebration of life will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Oak Ridge, New Jersey on Friday, July 5, 2024. The visitation will take place at 11:00am, and the funeral mass will begin at 12:00pm. He will be laid to rest at Flanders-Hillside Cemetery in Succasunna, New Jersey, near his beloved mother and father, immediately following the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, his family has requested donations to be made to the Fitzpatrick House.
