THERE WILL BE A REPAST IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE SERVICE AT THE FIREHOUSE. Edward J. Steines, 64 years, of West Milford, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. He was born on January 24, 1959 in Pequannock Twp., NJ to the late Edna J. (nee McGrady) and the late Thomas A. Steines. Edward met Michelle Scaparro in 1996 at Famiglia, her family delicatessen in West Milford, NJ. They later wed in 1998. He was employed for many years with West Milford Department of Public Works, and in 2016 he was named DPW Director. Throughout the years, Edward volunteered for many organizations: the West Milford Fire Department since 1979 and was named the West Milford Fire Commissioner, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Coordinator since 2011, and a proud member of the West Milford First Aid Squad. In his spare time, Edward enjoyed watching football and was a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan!!!; he also enjoyed painting and doing puzzles. Edward was predeceased by his mother Edna in 2021 and his father Thomas in 1960; his stepfather Elmer Dolloway in 1995; his brothers Robert J. Steines in 2019 and Thomas A. Steines in 2021; his father-in-law Joseph S. Scaparro in 2019; and his grandson Matthew Scott Meckert in 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife Michelle; his cherished daughters Kristi Steines-Curatolo and her husband Michael, Rachel Steines and her fiancée Michael Canzoneri, Taylor Steines, and Brittany Bilenski; his adored grandchildren Ethan Edward Yarger, Justin Matthew Curatolo, Hunter Michael Canzoneri, and Leah and Bailey Kracke; his dear siblings Karen Wright and her husband Greg, Donna Wright and her husband Michael, Brandee DeBlasio, and Joseph Steines, and ; his mother-in-law Claire M. Scaparro; his sisters-in-law Joelle and Danielle Scaparro; his brother-in-law Joseph Scaparro; his nieces Karissa and Chelsea Wright, Cassandra Anthony; Brittany Fortini, Koren and Kylee Bilenski, and Nicole Scaparro; his nephews Thomas and Edward Steines, Kyle and John Steines, Timothy Dean, Joey and Trevor Steines, William Wright, Anthony Scaparro, Michael Slowginski, and Storm Stires. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11am at the West Milford Fire Company #4, West Milford, New Jersey 07480. Attendees may arrive at 10am. There will be a repast immediately after the service at the firehouse.
