THOMAS THE APOSTLE CEMETERY ADJACENT TO THE CHURCH Mary Ann Castiglia (nee Mezzo) who entered this life on January, 16, 1956 and passed into the Life Eternal on March 27, 2025 at age 69. Born in Newark, NJ, she passed away a resident of Lake Mohawk, Sparta, NJ. She was predeceased by her parents, Fortunata Mary Mezzo (nee DiStefano) and Alexander Frank Mezzo. She graduated from Union Catholic High School in Union NJ and subsequently took courses at Saint Elizabeth’s University in Morristown, NJ completing a Certification in Theology. When she married, she worked in sales for Emeloid Addressograh/Multigraph in Union, NJ who manufactured credit cards. She also later ran her own weight loss consulting business and worked as a paralegal for the law office of V. James Castiglia, Esq. She was passionate about religious education and being a mother who enjoyed crafting, cooking and baking. She touched many lives with her generosity and kindness and was always willing to lend a hand or a listening ear. Always aware of current trends, she bought a Commodore 64 in 1982, one of the first computers available to the public, catalyzing a passion for technology in her husband and later three children that persists to this day. In her last three years she fought a tough battle with lung cancer. One of her great joys was finally being able to dance with both of her sons at her son Robert’s wedding. She is survived by two loving sons: P. Charles Castiglia II and Robert James Castiglia and his wife, Jillian Castiglia and a loving and dedicated daughter, Alexandra M. Castiglia, who was her primary caretaker in the last 5 years. She is survived by two grandchildren, Cameron Clark Castiglia and Nathan James Castiglia. She is also survived by her former husband and best friend, V. James Castiglia, Esq. and her cat, Oskar. She is survived by her siblings, Teresa Boutillette and her husband, Michael; her brother Alexander Mezzo and his wife Deborah; and her brother Anthony and his wife, Paula and a number of nieces and nephews. A Celebration of her Life and a viewing will be held between 4 and 8 pm on Monday, March 31st at the Stickle Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 LaRue Road, Newfoundland, NJ 07435. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am at St. Thomas the Apostle R C Church, 5635 Berkshire Valley Road, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438 with a burial at the St. Thomas Cemetery. A repast will follow at Portofino’s Restaurant, 5129 Berkshire Valley Road, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438 at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Sparta Ambulance Squad, P.O. Box 246, Sparta, NJ 07871 who was always there for her and treated her like family. Her love, laughter and legacy will live on in our hearts.
