CELEBRATION OF LIFE: DATE, PLACE, AND TIME TO BE ANNOUNCED Michael DeGall, 65, of Highland Lake, NJ, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 26, 2026. He was a devoted husband, loving family member, and loyal friend whose kindness and generosity touched everyone who knew him. Michael was an avid fisherman who found peace and joy on the water. He also loved spending time at the shooting range, especially when sharing that hobby with his wife, Kelly. When he wasn’t fishing or at the range, he could often be found taking rides on his motorcycle, enjoying the open road and the freedom it brought him. A hardworking and dedicated man, Michael owned and operated his own construction company, MD Construction, for many years. He later worked for the Franklin Lakes Department of Public Works for over 15 years, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to his community. Michael was a man who would give the shirt off his back. Everyone who knew him loved his big hugs and the comfort and warmth he brought into any room. He was protective, supportive, and deeply devoted to his wife, Kelly—her rock and protector through all the tough times in life. He was also an incredible uncle and godfather, always looking out for his nieces and nephews and supporting them in every way he could. His friends and family will remember him for his big heart, his loyalty, and his willingness to help anyone in need. Michael was preceded in death by his parents John Joseph DeGall and Theresa Francis Erickson; and his mother-in-law Charlene Mabie. He is survived by his beloved wife Kelly Mabie; his sister Loraine Mullins; her son Patrick Mullins - his nephew and godson; his brothers Richard DeGall and his wife Yolanda; and Jack DeGall and his wife Barbara DeGall; his niece Kate Porr and her spouse Andy Porr, and their children Eden and Jack; his nephew Erick DeGall and his wife Erica DeGall, and their son Wyatt; his nephew Matt DeGall; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. On his wife Kelly’s side, Michael is survived by his father-in-law Charles Mabie; his brother-in-law Randy Mabie and his wife Debbie Mabie, and their children Blair and Liam; his brother-in-law Christopher Mabie and his wife Stephanie Mabie; and their children Julia and Ryan; and his cousin-in-law Amanda Palmer and her son Jaxson. Michael will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love he shared so freely.
