Brown, 92 years of age of the Milton section of Oak Ridge, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 30, 2022. She was born January 17, 1930 in Milton, New Jersey, the youngest of four siblings to the late Mae C. (nee Chamberlain) Ackerson and Harman Ackerson. Evelyn attended Butler High School, and in 1952 she received Bachelor of Science/Education from New Jersey State Teacher’s College, now Patterson State. She married Ellsworth W. Brown in 1953 and together they had three children: Nancy, Marjorie, and Gerald. For 35 years Evelyn was an educator for elementary and middle schools of Jefferson Township in Language Arts - Reading, English, and History. She loved to help the children of Jefferson Township throughout her 92 years as a lifetime resident. Evelyn was past President of NJEA, Past President of Jefferson Township Historical Society, Morris County Republican Club, Council Woman for 10 years and Mayor of Jefferson Township from 1995-1999 and was the driving force for the establishment of Camp Jefferson on Weldon Road. She remained an advocate for Jefferson Township throughout her lifetime. Her hobbies included, reading, gardening, her pets, travel, and antiquing. She enjoyed her children's sports/hobbies and was a devoted grandmother in her later years. Evelyn was predeceased by her former husband Ellsworth W. Brown in 2007, and her two sons-in-law William Hueber in 2003 and Jim Perry in 2019. She is survived by her three children Nancy B. Perry, Marjorie B. Hueber Burns and her husband Dennis, and Gerald E. Brown and his girlfriend Lynn Valenza, all of Milton, New Jersey; her four grandchildren Sean R. Perry, Mark Hueber and his wife Amanda of Virginia; Macey L. Hueber and her fiancé Jackson Page of Tennessee and Harley Hueber of Milton, New Jersey; her three step- grandchildren Kelli-Jean Schenk and her husband Don of Louisiana, Brian Perry of North Carolina, and Deanna Moore of Pennsylvania; and her five great grandchildren McKenzi and Emile Schenk both of Louisiana, and Loralei M. Hueber and Magnolia E. Hueber both of Virginia; and her step great granddaughter Anna Moore of Pennsylvania. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 2pm to 6pm at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 La Rue Road, Newfoundland, New Jersey 07435 (for GPS use 1 Post Place). A prayer service will take place on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 10am at the funeral home, followed by the interment at Milton Cemetery in Milton, New Jersey.
