PLEASANT AVENUE ROCKAWAY TWP., NEW JERSEY George J. Rowe, 84 years, of Oak Ridge, NJ, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022. He was born on November 5, 1937 in Orange, NJ to the late George J. and Lavina (nee Reilly) Rowe. George married Jane Meikle in 1961 and raised their four children in Oak Ridge, NJ. He was predeceased by his dear parents Lavina Rowe in 1995 and George Rowe in 1996, his beloved wife Jane in 1999, and his brother Thomas J. Rowe. George is survived by his loving children Michael Rowe and his partner Sunshine Kolb, Kevin Rowe and his wife Marie, Patricia Young and her husband Barry, and James Rowe and his wife Kristie; his cherished grandchildren Rebecca Servedio and her husband David, Nicole Rowe, James Young, Sarah Young, Nathan Rowe, Christina Young, Lukas Rowe, and Noah Rowe; his great grandson Logan James Servedio; his dear sisters Carole Dyba and husband Joseph and Marylee Firth and husband Richard (deceased), many nieces and nephews, and his devoted partner Kathryn Munch. From 1955 to 1972 he was employed at the American Can Company. In 1972 he established George Rowe & Sons Inc. celebrating 50 years of service solely here in Oak Ridge, NJ. George was an avid gardener and loved to build gardens on his property and had all kinds of flowers, trees, shrubs, and ponds within. His most favorite times were spent on his back porch surrounded by his loving family and many, many great friends reminiscing about his wild youth growing up in North Arlington, NJ, and at Longwood Lake where he loved to be at "the Lake" since he was a teenager. Fond memories were also made during traditional spaghetti nights and while cheering his children and grandchildren on at numerous sporting, musical, and academic events. George was also a devoted Yankee fan and rarely missed an opportunity to watch them on TV. He was a dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. George will certainly be missed on Margaret Road and at Longwood Lake. He is reunited with his wife, who was his high school sweetheart, and who left this world too early. Until we meet again "Gramp"; It was a pleasure to have known such a great man! A memorial visitation will take place on Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 4pm to 8pm at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 La Rue Road, Newfoundland, NJ 07435. A memorial mass will take place on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 10am at St. Clement Pope & Martyr RC Church, 1547 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Rockaway Twp., NJ.
