Jesus called Joan home to be with her beloved John on Thursday, March 18th, 2021. Joan was born on October 16th, 1931 in New York City, to Meta (nee Pape) and John Clausen and lived to be 89. She grew up in Manhattan and graduated Concordia College, Bronxville before working as a secretary at A.D. Julliard. Once she met her devoted husband of 45 years John W. Behrens, they’d establish their home in Ringwood, New Jersey “God’s Country” and begin to raise a family over the next 45 years together. Joan was a selfless person, always putting the needs of others before her own. She enjoyed observing nature, birdwatching, and drinking a glass of iced tea in the warm sun. Sitting in the garden surrounded by her family and four legged friends was one of her favorite pastimes. She was humble, modest, and wise; and remained sharp as a tack until her passing. Her smile always lit up the room and we will miss her dearly. She will live on forever in our hearts. Joan is survived by her children: Kurt Behrens (Terry), Neil Behrens (Donna), Chris Behrens (Karen), Eric Behrens, and Janine Behrens Ellis (Mike); her grandchildren include Ryan Behrens (Stephanie), Heather Behrens Stagg (Brian), Kyle Behrens (Jess), Kristen Behrens, Devin Behrens (Ashley), Jason Behrens, Jenn Behrens Torrado (Josh), Lauren Behrens Field (Chris), Brendan Behrens (Rachel), Bridget Behrens, and Jon Ellis; great-grandchildren include Tyler, Gabby, Kenzie, Logan, Hudson, Adelaide, Emma, Owen, Sadie, Saylor, Sam, and Lincoln.
