MAYBELLE L. Thompson, 94 years of age, of Pompton Plains, NJ., passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020. Born on January 28, 1926 in Wanaque, NJ, to Marjorie (nee Cattle) and Garrett McCormick. Maybelle married Arthur Thompson in 1946 and resided in Wanaque where they started their family. In 1953 they moved to Pequannock Twp., NJ, and in 1960 they relocated to Pompton Lakes, NJ. Two years later they moved to Pompton Plains, NJ where they remained until each of their passings. She worked for Bell Telephone in Paterson, NJ and for 25 years she was an Insurance Rater for State Farm Insurance Company in Wayne, NJ. Maybelle will best be remembered for her love of family and spending time with her family as well as enjoying reading biographies and swimming. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Arthur in 1984 and all seven of her siblings throughout the years. Maybelle is survived by her loving children Joanne Mulroy and her husband John of West Milford, NJ, Arthur Thompson, Jr. and his wife Grace of Highland Mills, NY, Gary Thompson and his wife Ira of Pompton Plains, NJ, and Kurt Thompson of Pompton Plains, NJ.; her cherished grandchildren Christopher Mulroy and his wife Maria, Ashley Lupo and her husband Christian, Alex Thompson, Jessica Zimmerman and her husband Derek, Garrett Thompson, Shannon Thompson, Derick Thompson, and Gary Thompson, Jr., as well as several dear nieces and nephews. The funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 10am at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 155 West Parkway, Pompton Plains, NJ. followed by the interment next to her husband at Our Lady of the Magnificat Cemetery in Kinnelon, NJ.
