RAYMOND R. GOODSIR
March 28, 1956 - January 16, 2021
MEMORIAL VISITATION: FRIDAY, JANUARY 22, 2021 5PM TO 7PM STICKLE-SOLTESZ FUNERAL HOME MOMENTS OF REFLECTION: FRIDAY, JANUARY 22, 2021 6:30PM DURING THE LAST HALF HOUR OF THE VISITATION STICKLE-SOLTESZ FUNERAL HOME MEMORIAL MASS: SATURDAY, JANUARY 23, 2021 10AM OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE RC CHURCH 1911 UNION VALLEY ROAD HEWITT, NEW JERSEY 07421 FINAL DISPOSITION WILL BE PRIVATE Raymond Reed Goodsir was called to eternal rest on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the age of 64. He was born March 28, 1956 in Passaic, NJ to his parents Raymond Richard Goodsir and Marilyn Claire Goodsir (nee Clarke), who both predeceased him. A lifelong resident of West Milford, NJ, he is survived by his wife, Cheryl (nee Mennoia); his daughter, Catherine and her husband, Jason, and grandsons Nate and Noah; his son, Raymond and his wife, Liza, grandson Conor, and soon-to-be granddaughter; his siblings Donna Goodsir, Gwenn Goodsir, Sharon DeFeo, and Kevin Goodsir and their spouses; and many nieces and nephews. We all knew Ray as the life of the party who would light up every room he entered. He spread joy and love to everyone he met. Ray endured much heartache in his years as a lifelong fan of the NY Mets and NY Jets, but he didn’t let that stop his dedication to yelling at them, whether at the stadium or on television. His generosity with his friends and family was unmatched, and he would spare no expense to celebrate any occasion, such as a birthday, a personal success, or a Tuesday night, for example. His booming voice and tight bear hugs could be intimidating, but he was always able to mitigate that by emitting a genuine love for the people around him. Ray was a superstar, himself, when it came to sports, and he would definitely tell you that – the best third baseman and quarterback West Milford Little League, West Milford High School, and DePaul High School had ever seen. Personally, I can confirm this, as I have heard the highlights of his games so many times I can play them in my mind. Most recently, however, Ray’s favorite pastime was playing with his grandchildren every chance he got. Amazingly, even as such a larger-than-life presence of a man, children took to him so easily, and his grandsons absolutely loved playing with him more than anything. They will all miss him so terribly. Friday, January 22, 2021, please meet us at Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 La Rue Road, Newfoundland, NJ between 5 and 7 pm to celebrate Ray and all the joy he has brought us through the years. At 6:30 that evening we will have the opportunity to share stories and memories with each other. In addition, a memorial mass will be held for Ray at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 1911 Union Valley Road, Hewitt, NJ on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 10am. All are welcome to attend.
