SIMON THE APOSTLE CHURCH 1010 GREEN POND ROAD NEWFOUNDLAND, NEW JERSEY 07435 Richard “Rich” Beckmann passed away on November 19, 2021 at the age of 87, in Melbourne Florida. Rich had a way of facing all of life’s challenges with a smile and despite several medical issues he stayed strong until the end. Rich was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone. Rich was born in Jersey City, NJ and met the love of his life, Ruth, while hitchhiking to Green Pond from Jersey City. Rich and Ruth fell in love and built a home in Elmwood Park, NJ. Together, they had two sons Richard and Ryan. As a child, Rich enjoyed spending the summers at his family home in Green Pond and in 1970 Rich and Ruth moved their family to Green Pond year-round and resided there until 2016. After years of work in the dairy industry Rich changed careers and became the Green Pond Maintenance Supervisor until he retired at age 60. After Ruth passed, Rich moved to Melbourne Beach, Florida. He became a fixture in the Beachwood’s community and was known by many as a friendly man who liked to work out at the gym and swim daily. Rich enjoyed swimming, fishing, grilling, hunting at the farm with his boys and simply being with family and friends. He loved to spoil his kids and grandkids and was always ready to make breakfast or grill up some food; no one ever went hungry when visiting. Rich was also a handyman and loved to help relatives and friends with household projects. No matter the size of the project he was always ready to lend a hand. He gave much and asked for little in return. He is survived by his children: Richard Beckmann and his wife Marlene of Green Pond, NJ, and Ryan Beckmann and his wife Susan of Woodbridge, VA and his five grandchildren: Erin Beckmann of South Riding, VA, Christian Beckmann of Morristown NJ, Joseph Beckmann and his wife, Kelsey, of Clifton, NJ, Dr. Allison Beckmann and her husband, Kayvon, of Baltimore, MD, and Marguerite Beckmann of Hoboken, NJ. Rich will be honored in a celebration of life on November 28th at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home at 187 La Rue Road, Newfoundland NJ. Visiting hours are from 3 – 7 pm. A mass for Dad will be held at Saint Simons Catholic Church at 1010 Green Pond Rd in Green Pond, NJ at 10 AM with a burial at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson, NJ on November 29th after mass.
