JOSEPH CEMETERY 454 GERMANTOWN ROAD WEST MILFORD, NEW JERSEY 07480 Elizabeth “Beth” Guimes (nee Mooney), 72 years of age, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. She was born on December 7, 1953 in Teaneck, NJ to the late Agnes T. (nee Kennedy) Mooney and the late Peter T. Mooney. Married her husband Richard Guimes in 1972 and he remained by her side until she passed away. For 36 years, Beth was a resident of Ridgefield Park, NJ where she raised her two daughters with her loving husband Rich of 53 years. They moved to Newfoundland, NJ to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren. Beth was an LPN and an RN in Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ. She later worked as a substitute school nurse and teacher in Ridgefield Park and Teaneck for more than 20 years. She retired due to complications from her Multiple Sclerosis. She helped start Biddy Basketball in Ridgefield Park, coached soccer for the Ridgefield Park Soccer Association; helped set up and run swim meets for the Ridgefield Park Summer Swim team, and coached JV Volleyball at Ridgefield Park High School. Beth was an avid reader, especially mystery novels; she loved traveling and sightseeing in Maine, especially in the Fall; watching and cheering on her granddaughter’s sporting events; an enthusiastic NY Yankees fan; playing games on her iPad; and most of all spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her father Peter Mooney in 1982 and her mother Agnes Mooney in 2004; and her brother James Mooney in 2018. Beth is survived by her beloved husband Richard Guimes; loving her daughters Kathy Tobia and her husband John; and Kristen McCall and her husband Kevin; her cherished grandchildren Riley and Brianna McCall; and Mikayla and Colin Tobia; her dear siblings Peter Mooney, Kathleen Mooney and her late partner Michael Skeahan, Margaret Mooney and her husband Edward “Jim” Scoble; her sister-in-law Karen Mooney; her nieces Nicole Conforti, Andrea Yz, Annie Mooney and Sarah Mooney; her nephews James Signoretti, Peter Mooney and James Mooney; as well as many great nieces and great nephews. The family will receive visitors on Monday, March 30, 2026 from 4pm to 8pm with a prayer service at 6pm at Stickle-Soltesz Funeral home, 187 La Rue Road, Newfoundland, NJ 07435. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 11am at St. Joseph Cemetery, 454 Germantown Road, West Milford, NJ 07480.
