CELEBRATION OF LIFE SATURDAY: JANUARY 10, 2025 11AM GREEN POND BIBLE CHAPEL 1083 GREEN POND ROAD GREEN POND, NEW JERSEY 973-697-0990 Edmund James Soltys, 91 years, of Green Pond, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 15, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born on July 23, 1934 in Buffalo, NY to the late Genevieve Kwiatkowski and the late Julius Soltys. Jim proudly served in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1959. He married Ute Herta Diehl in 1967 and resided in Long Beach, New York; later moving to Alexandria, Virginia, then to Crofton, Maryland, then to Montville, New Jersey, then to Old Lyme, Connecticut, then to Roscoe, Illinois, and finally to Green Pond, New Jersey in 1984. Jim started his sales career in camera and film. He rose to Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Thermos and then at Newell, and retired after working at AGFA and then Maverick. His religious affiliation was with the Green Pond Bible Chapel. Jim will best be remembered for his enjoyment of tennis, golf and vacationing with his wife and family. He also loved playing/pitching for the Indians softball team in Green Pond, attending Green Pond Community Center events, and was very proud of both of his sons. He especially enjoyed watching his very talented musical son - Jason - play his keyboard and sing in various venues up and down the New Jersey shore. He also enjoyed visiting his other son - Jim in Reston, VA, his beautiful wife Cindy, and their two daughters. The pride of his life was his wife Ute, who miraculously said yes to a marriage proposal after only knowing Jim for 10 days, and they were married 20 days after they first met. His faith in Jesus, sustained him throughout his life and he exuded a lively, boisterous spirit that would fill and light up a room. He was predeceased by his mother Genevieve Soltys in 1974 and his father Julius Soltys in 1993; his sister Patricia Proos in 1985 and his brother Kenneth Soltys in 2023. Jim is survived by his wife Ute; his sons James Richard Soltys and Jason Kenneth Soltys; his grandchildren Evan, Sabine and Anna Soltys; his brother and sister-in-law Manfred and Elizabeth Pausch of Kleinlinden, Germany; his nephews Scott and Mark Proos; his cousins Al and Shirley Fanaro of Buffalo, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.
