Perry, 72 years, of Oak Ridge, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. Born on June 26, 1946 in Gulfport, Mississippi to the late Marie (Ford) and the late William M. Perry. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps from 1963 to 1965, 6th Marine Division. Jim married Nancy Brown in 1988 at the Handsboro Presbyterian Church in Gulfport, Mississippi where they also resided, later moving to Houston, Texas, then to Salisbury, North Carolina where they had their son Sean. For many years Jim was the Sales Manager at Whitehall and Friedman Jewelers until his retirement in 2011. At one time Jim was drafted to the Houston Astros, which was his life dream to be a professional baseball player, and for his entire life he was a die-hard Yankees fan and a true southerner, born and raised in Mississippi. He will best be remembered for his compassion, baseball knowledge, and outgoing personality; never met a stranger. He was predeceased by both of his parents in 2010 and his dear son Timothy Shane Perry in 1989. Jim is survived by his beloved wife Nancy of 31 years, his loving children Brian M. Perry of North Carolina, Kelli Jean P. Schenk and her husband Donnie of Louisiana and Sean Perry; his cherished grandchildren McKenzi R. and Emily L. Schenk; his dear siblings Clarence W. Perry and his wife Jackie, and Louise Ladner-Simmons, both of Mississippi; his dear mother-in-law Evelyn A. Brown, former Jefferson Township Mayor and educator; his sister-in-law Marjorie Hueber and his brother-in-law Gerald E. Brown, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 5pm to 7pm with a memorial service at 6pm at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 La Rue Road, Newfoundland, NJ 07435 (For GPS use 1 Post Place).
